Sun 27th Nov 2022 -

Gordon Whitehead

One of the main members of our club for so many years, Gordon Whitehead, has died at his home in Wendover.

Table Tennis was his life and over so very many years he touched, helped and coached so many people, not only for our Tring club, but also at Bierton and Quarrendon.

He will be missed by many of us who valued his friendship.

Sun 22nd May 2022 - Do you play Table tennis?

Do you have trouble finding someone to play table tennis with?

We are looking for some new players to join us for practice sessions and matches in local Aylesbury league, all levels of ability required.

Our home game nights are at venue near Tring Station and start at 7.30pm, weekday evenings only.

If of interest please contact using the details on the contact tab, and come and have a practice.

Mon 27th Sep 2021 - Tring School Coaching Sessions

After many years of running these sessions on a Monday, it now appears unlikely that our coaching sessions will restart at Tring School.

There are sessions for Juniors at Quarrendon on a Wednesday and Bierton on a Tuesday. An ETTA coach is present at the Bierton session.  Contact ontact the ADTTL Secretary David Badham on 07757 853334 for more information.

Fri 27th Mar 2020 - Coronavirus update & Tring School Rebuild

Coronavirus Update

The season has been stopped prematurely because of the Coronavirus outbreak.

This also affects the clubs that played Table Tennis over the period April to September. Neither the Quarrendon centre on Wednesday, nor the Bierton TTC on Tuesday, are running this year. This is subject to review if the UK situation changes.

The traditional Summer League held by ADTTL at the Quarrendon Centre is also cancelled.

Tring School Rebuild

We are unclear at this time whether the Monday sessions will be able to take place over the period September 2020 to March 2021. The Gym is expected to become classrooms or offices to replace the ones lost by the rebuild process.

However the Coronavirus issue may amend the timescales.

As we know more we will advise via email to those on our mailing list and by update here.

Thu 10th May 2018 - GDPR Compliance

Tring Table Tennis Club have reviewed this website in order to comply with the EU GDPR law on on data protection that came into effect on 25 May 2018.

The following is issued by the Aylesbury & District Table Tennis League:

The new Data Protection legislation due to come in to force on May 25th will affect all of us in table tennis community according to advice received from Table Tennis England. That advice has included a batch of documents explaining the situation and suggesting solutions (see TTE website). The League Committee met last night to discuss the issues and it was decided that the League would conduct the registration process for the new season using forms that would satisfy the new requirements both for the League and the Clubs. In the meantime the League will issue a Data Protection Policy statement to coincide with the changeover.

Tue 27th Mar 2018 - JP Yoxall wins handicap singles

Greenway Primary & Nursery School are National Champions in the Butterfly National Schools Championship at Under 11. Congratulations not only to our two juniors, Gabriella Tonev and Aliya Power, but two the other two members of the team as well.

Mon 5th Feb 2018 - Tring Juniors also shine in the Butterfly National Schools competition

Two juniors, Gabriella Tonev and Aliya Power, who attend the Monday coaching sessions run by the Tring Table Tennis Club. are part of a Table Tennis team of four for their school, Greenway Primary & Nursery School, Berkhamsted. They are entered, for their age group, in the Butterfly
National Schools competition under the auspices of the English Schools Table Tennis Association [ESTTA].

They have won through three previous rounds, and on Saturday 3 February they won the regional round at Bristol to qualify for the National finals to be held at Hinkley Leisure Centre, Leicestershire on 10 March 2018.

TTC and ADTTL wish Gabriella and Aliya the best of luck on that day – and also extend it to the other two members of the team as well.

Sun 4th Feb 2018 - Tring players win all three cups at the ADTTL Junior and Cadet Championships

From an original entry of 30 youngsters across The Aylesbury Vale, this year’s Junior and Riddell Cadet Championships proved to be an enthralling evening at Quarrendon and Meadowcroft Community Association on 31 January.

The Cadets provided the largest entry with 25 with last year’s champion, Alex Wood, now too old and only being able to contest the Junior Title this year.  His Tring clubmate, Alfie Lyons, was the undoubted favourite having missed last year’s competition. The potential amongst the younger combatants was exciting to see with 7 groups playing round robin games to determine which two could proceed to the knockout stage. The Tring Club had the strength with John Paul Yoxall and Alfie moving smoothly into the final. All the other knockout players will improve for future years with Oscar Hofhansl, Maxim Plumridge, Jonny Webb, Valentino Wright, Jaydon Hedges and Luke Riley all impressive. It was also exciting to see three girls competing at this level, with Gabriella Tonev, Aliya Power and Marlie Gregory to the fore.

Alfie faced John Paul in the final and proved to be too strong with a three set win to take his first Riddell Cadet Title.

In the Junior event Alfie was also very strong eclipsing Marlie and Alex Wood to reach the final where he faced Tring's James George for the second year running. James had warmed up with testing encounters against Oscar and John Paul. In the final Alfie raced into an 8-2 lead tempting us to think that he might do the double. James remained cool and fought back just losing 11-9. He was again behind in the second set but caught Alfie on deuce and then eased through 12-10. It was an exciting attacking match up and James changed his game to put Alfie under pressure when trying to put his shots away. James managed to take the next two sets 5 and 8 to take his 4th Junior Title in succession. The final was as good as will be on show in the Seniors Tournament and both boys are congratulated on giving us a brilliant display of modern table tennis.

We held one Consolation event for the Cadets with James Passmore, also of Tring TTC, beating Bowden Plumridge 11/7,10/12,11/3.

Sun 19th Mar 2017 - Tring D are champions of Division 3

With one match in hand, it is congratulations to Tring D who have been confirmed as Champions of Division 3 this season.

Thu 9th Mar 2017 - Alex Wood wins the Riddell Trophy

Alex Wood is the new holder of the Riddell Trophy for U15 players in the ADTTL league. By doing this he is keeping up a Tring Table Tennis Club tradition. Alex beat Oscar Hofhansel from Bierton TTC, in a
thrilling final,13 – 11 in the fifth leg.

There were 18 entrants into the Championship held at the Quarrendon Centre last night.

TTC also has to complement Alfie Lyons who would have been one of the favourites for the title. He played for his team (Tring B) who had players out on injury. They are in the promotion race and he played so Tring B did not lose points.

Thu 9th Feb 2017 - James continues to hold onto his Junior title

In the ADTTL Annual Junior (Under 18) Competition final on Wednesday 8 February James George held onto his Junior title for the 3rd consecutive year.

The final was between James and fellow Tring Table Tennis club member Alfie Lyons with James winning in three straight sets.

Tring TTC dominated these finals with Jean- Paul Yoxall, also from Tring, in the semi finals.

Wed 11th Feb 2015 - James is a double champion

The junior (U18) and cadet (U15) table tennis events took place this week at Quarrendon Community Centre with a fresh group of youngsters eager to make a name for themselves.
The U15 group were playing for the Riddell Trophy, presented by Helen Riddell, for emerging youngsters in memory of Helen's husband, Steve Riddell. This year saw 10 youngsters take part in the competitions with James George (Tring), Tom Ludlow (Quarrendon) and James Massa (Aylesbury Sports) entering both events. ln the cadets, George and Massa progressed to the semi-finals where they faced Tring duo Douglas Claridge-Hansen and Alfie Lyons. Douglas ran James George close but came up just short, while Massa defeated newcomer Alfie. ln the final, the left-handed James George proved too good for Massa, winning in three straight sets to take the title.
The junior event presented the best of Aylesbury and District’s young players and some good attacking play brought Josh Edworthy (Sports) up against his team-mate Ethan Luck in the quarter-finals. In the three other quarter-final ties, William Claridge-Hansen (Tring) faced team-mate Jed Thirkettle, Dom Palmigiano (Sports) took on James Massa and James George played Tom Ludlow. Josh and Dom then met in the semi-finals, as did Jed and James. The quality of competition increased with every round and it was Josh and James who won through their matches. The final was a see-saw affair with Josh taking a 2-1 lead, only to see James come fighting back and win the last two sets to claim the junior title to add to his earlier success.

Mon 15th Nov 2010 - Bucks U13s champion

Aaron Taylor of Tring Table Tennis Club battled his way through to victory in the Bucks County U13s championship on Saturday 13th November at Cippenham TTC. Aaron is still only 11 years old. This included a hard fought semi final victory against the number 1 seed and a thrilling 4 set final. Robert Batchelor was the losing finalist and at only 10 years old he's another great prospect. Well done to Aaron.
